Who is Mr. Derek?

A language teacher of 20 years.
A good human of sorts.

Five years in the conversation world. Fifteen in the private school system.
From young learners to working professionals, from grammar to CLIL, from chat to challenge—my goal has always been the same:

Less fluff. More focus.

People used to ask,
“Do you teach privately?”

I didn’t. My energy was spoken for.

But over time, I noticed something:
Too many learning platforms were loud but hollow.
Bloated with gamification. Padded with pop-ups. Recently, overrun with AI—and not the helpful kind. All style, no soul.

So I stopped complaining. And built something else. 

 What is Living English?

Living English is a digital lesson magazine—but also a curated study system and language-learning space.
It’s a place to grow your English—consciously, consistently, and with intensity.

This is not factory-made content.
It’s not entirely human-made either.

Living English is a human–AI hybrid:

  Every word is reviewed, refined, and signed off by me.

Accounts must be created and controlled by an adult.
