またあの言葉を使います。
threshold（境目）です。
梅雨は、春と夏のあいだにある、ひとつのはっきりした境目です。
けれども同時に、少し不思議な「普通の生活」の時間でもあります。
休みは終わり、会議、学校、用事が続いていく。天気は晴れから雨へ、そして時には台風へと変わります。
それでも、私たちはただ日々を進めていきます。
今回の Seed of Thought では、この季節の空気を音楽を通して考えてみました。
私なりの「梅雨のサウンドトラック」です。
私の連想は納得できますか。それとも考えすぎでしょうか。
I shall use that word threshold again. The rainy season sits between spring and summer as one clear divider. Yet it is also a peculiar stretch of ordinary life.
No more holidays. Now it is just meetings, school, and errands. The weather goes from sun to rain to typhoon as we simply carry on.
This month's Seed of Thought explores this atmosphere with a music focus.
Over the course of the collection, I consider June from four directions:
① Work
The persistence of everyday responsibilities.
Think Ms. Parton's 9 to 5.
② Patience
Rainy afternoons. Cafés. Windows.
Think rainy-day ennui with Mr. Satie and his Gymnopédie No.1.
③ Rain
Sometimes metaphorical. Sometimes literal.
Few songs capture it better than Creedence Clearwater Revival's Have You Ever Seen the Rain?
④ Change
Nothing lasts forever. So too the rain. Summer arrives.
We experience a more uptempo shift toward summer thinking. Think Midnight City by M83.
