またあの言葉を使います。threshold、つまり「境目」です。
梅雨はまさにそのような季節です。春は終わり、暦の上には雨の壁が立ちはだかる。けれども、実際にはそう単純でもありません。
年によっては早く来て、あまり降らないこともあります。別の年には、いかにも梅雨らしく、しっかり雨が続くこともあります。
ただ、天気以上に、この小さな季節は日本の生活において、かなり濃い意味を持っています。つまり、仕事です。
ゴールデンウィークが終わり、7月下旬まで、大きな休みはほとんどありません。会議、出張、学校行事、家事、責任。あるいは、多くの人にとって、ただ淡々と続く日常。
今回は、この独特な日本のリズムを、あえて西洋の音楽を通して味わってみます。
私なりに選んだ、この「雨の時期」のサウンドトラック。4つの視点から考えてみました。
この1か月、コレクションを進めながら、こう問いかけてみてください。
私の心理的な連想に納得できますか。それとも、少し考えすぎでしょうか。
I shall use that word “threshold” again. For the rainy season is just that. Spring is done, and now life gives you a wall of rain in the calendar. But then again, maybe not. It is fickle. Last year was particularly early and not very wet. Other years, properly rainy.
But beyond weather, this sub-season of sorts marks a potent time in Japanese life: work. All vacation is done with. From Golden Week clear through late July, there is uninterrupted “life,” of the responsible kind. With meetings, business trips, school events — or then again for many: the humdrum of everyday being.
Thus let us feel this unique Japanese rhythm through a distinctly Western vibe. My soundtrack of this period-of-wet, considered on four fronts. As you go through the collection over the course of the month, ask yourself:
